Thysanolaena Tiger Grass Tissue Culture


The name is derived from the plant’s hairy rhizome-like leaves. The leaves have a hairy appearance that is unlike other members of theophyllum family such as cucumber or tomato plants. They are also different from its relatives in that it possesses a rhizome (the bulbous part at the base) and has a white flower that blooms in late summer.

Thysanolaena Tiger Grass Plant name comes from the tiger grass’ tall growing height. The genus Thysanolaena, which is also known as tiger grass, is a large genus containing over sixty thousand different species. Many species occur in rain forests and Asian sub-tropical climates.
